Call to arms

We are a privileged nation and are tremendously blessed by God. Our churches have millions upon millions of dollars. Christians are free to live for Christ without fear of reprisal. We have well paying jobs, countless luxuries, cars, nice house, good food, and more clothes than anyone could possibly wear. One would think that it would be easy for us to return a small part of what God has so mercifully given us to Him. Yet the western churches decay in materialism and hypocrisy. We build million dollar churches on every street corner. Most Christians give as little 50 cents a week to foreign missions. Is this the pure and undefiled religion that Christ talks about? Where is the love of Christ in our reluctantly handing over the required 10% of our earnings? While we sip coffee in lavish sanctuaries people are dying in prisons for spreading the gospel. Are we being good steward of the money that God has given us. Does your offerings go to furthering his work or buying a nicer sound system for the church? Do we buy stuff for ourselves, hoard up treasures, and then tithe what we have left? I would strongly encourage you to think about these questions. Think about how you spend God's money. People are dying all over the World who have never heard of God's grace or their need for a savior while we sit idly by and watch.

I hope to use this blog to revitalize the American churches and give Western Christians a burning desire to spread God's word and the hope of the Gospel. I believe that sending white missionaries to countries like Asia is often not a wise idea at this time. God is doing amazing things with local missionaries but they need support. As Americans we can help by sending money and prayers. Native missionaries are much more effective since there are no cultural barriers and the require much less funding than a white missionary to be effective. I would strongly encourage you to read Revolution in World Missions if you wish to learn more about native missions. I will also be posting articles on what I believe about the nature of God and salvation. Please post comments and share any ideas you have.

I really liked the part about using local missionaries instead of white missionaries. It is good that we are finally learning that it is sometimes better to come alongside native people in their native lands rather than try to do it all ourselves.

thank you, I hadn't really thought about until I read that book but it is amazing how much more effective they are.
